Substantial progress has been made on bringing a row of former commercial premises on the High Street in Swansea back into use, according to the Council.
Swansea Council is renovating the properties and residents and community groups have been asked for their suggestions on how they will be used.
Plans for the site include a community café and space for pop-up businesses and leisure facilities.
Charities and other third sector organisations have also expressed interest in using the facilities alongside the Council.
Swansea Council’s cabinet member for supporting communities, Alyson Pugh, pictured, said: ‘The transformation is absolutely amazing and I know there are many who can’t wait to see these buildings open and to start making use of them. We are going to have a fantastic social café with a fabulous outside area and there are many other projects who want to be part of this.
‘The units are ideal as a safe space for outreach work and youth engagement as well as employability training and support. What is important to us is it is up to the community what goes here and how they are used. It’s going to grow naturally and the council will do all it can to support their plans and ideas. I’m just so excited about the potential and very proud to be part of this partnership working.’

In related news, empty shops in Bath are being repurposed for the community, as part of the Council’s Vacant Units Action Project.
