Three city region mayors will be discussing how the North can be heard at the People’s Powerhouse annual convention, later this week.
Greater Manchester’s Andy Burnham, Liverpool city region’s Steve Rotherham and the North of Tyne’s Jamie Driscoll will take part in an online debate on 25 November at 2pm.
The three mayors will be exploring the ways they can support the people of the North, ensure their voices are heard, and their views represented more effectively at Westminster.
It comes at a time when all three leaders have been widely praised in recent weeks for standing up for their regions over lockdown restrictions, furlough payments and support packages for local businesses.
‘Each of the three mayors, taking part in this session, have shown that when they directly amplify the feelings and emotions of the people they are representing, stronger connections are built between those in power and the people experiencing challenges in their day-to-day lives,’ said People’s Powerhouse chair, Edna Robinson.
‘I’m delighted that Steve, Jamie and Andy will be joining us for this widely celebrated annual event. It will be a great opportunity for people to explore pressing topics with the Mayors and have their concerns really heard moving forward.’
All three mayors will also host separate ‘listening events’ at the convention, where constituents can share experiences and ask any questions related to the pandemic and their region, over the course of an hour.
Tickets for this event are free, available to anyone and can be booked here.
