Calling all artists and architects!

We’re looking forward to being flooded with ideas for the Sefton Waterworks scheme on Merseyside as there’s a bit of healthy competition on offer for architects and artists from across the globe to offer their proposals as part of the Housing Market Renewal Art for Places Project.

The competition has been launched in order to gather the world’s best ideas for a moveable structure which will be based around the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in South Sefton.

The aim is to use the project as a means of exploring the Leeds and Liverpool canal as a key asset for the regeneration of the local area. It is hoped the potential of the canal for both leisure and social use can be unlocked as it runs through the Housing Market Renewal areas of South Sefton.

The project, which is a partnership between Merseyside HMR Pathfinder NewHeartlands, the Liverpool Biennial and the Arts Council along with local authorities and Housing Associations, will result in three public art commissions across Merseyside’s HMR areas, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral.

The closing date for proposals is April the 9th and entries from both small and large organisations are welcomed.

You can find the details on the RIBA and Liverpool Biennial websites.
